Joshua 24: 14-15

"Now then," Joshua continued, "honour the Lord and serve him sincerely and faithfully. Get rid of the Gods which your ancestors used to worship in Mesopotamia and in Egypt, and serve only the Lord . If you are not willing to serve him, decide today whom you will serve, the gods your ancestors worshipped in Mesopotamia or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are now living. As for my family and me, we will serve the Lord"

To have knowledge, you must first have reverence for the Lord. Stupid people have no repect for wisdom and refuse to learn.

Be careful about going to the Temple. It is better to go there to learn than to offer sacrifices as foolish people do, people who don't know right from wrong.

Matthew 6: 16-18

And when you fast, do not put on a sad face as the hypocrites do. They neglect their appearances so that everyone will see that they are fasting. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. When you go without food, wash your face and comb your hair , so that others cannot know that you are fasting - only your Father, who is unseen, will know. And your father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.

Matthew 6: 5-6

When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites! They love to stand up and pray in the houses of worship and on the street corners, so that everyone will see them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. But when you pray, go to your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.
